Then why aren't we at war with Saudi Arabia Mr. Cornyn?

Gosh, I love it when Republicans say things that don't make sense.

Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn said in a written statement:

"The attacks of September 11th were an act of war. Reverting to a pre-9/11 approach to fighting terrorism and bringing these dangerous individuals onto U.S. soil needlessly compromises the safety of all Americans."


If 9/11 was an act of war against the United States. then why aren't we at war with Saudi Arabia? All 19 individuals involved in the terrorist acts committed on 9/11 were from Saudi Arabia. They were all Saudi Arabian. And if they were linked with Al-Qaeda, then why didn't we invade Saudi Arabia?


Cuz of the relationship between the Bush family and and Saudi Royal family.


So can Obama make friends with Iran, and us just forget about the problems they have caused in the region? Please Republicans, when you have an answer, let me know.

Republican Version of Freedom

I believe, that the Republican version of freedom is specifically the freedom to remove freedoms from the civil rights of others.

Take Abortion.
Take Immigration.
Take Taxes.
Take the Internet.
Take Women's Rights.
Take Minorities' Rights.

Notice the gradual increase of income going to the top of the food chain. That is creating a situation where those that have the most money, therefore are the most ABLE and free to do and pursue anything they want in the US, those people are lessening the freedoms of others below them, simply because of the decrease in disposable income limiting the poor people's ability to do ANYTHING. The formerly disposable income of the poor has turned into $38 billion in bank fees distributed to the wealthy. That's just for last year.

Funny thing is, since most of these Repubs listen to good ol' Rushbo, they can't even recite the most important, the most core phrase to our Declaration of Independence. No matter what that filthy dog Rush says, the correct phrase is:

'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.' This should not be interpreted differently by different people. This is a core, neutral phrase that defines us as Americans, and no other version of this quote applies.

So the Obama girls are now spawns of Satan?

Westboro Baptist Church, the fringe-of-the-fringe anti-gay group famous for protesting at military funerals and claiming that God is punishing the country for its tolerance of homosexuality, was spotted this morning protesting outside Sidwell Friends, the school attended by Sasha and Malia Obama.

Protesters were carrying signs with anti-gay, anti-abortion and anti-Obama slogans, slowing down traffic all along Wisconsin Avenue this morning.

One member, Megan Phelps-Roper, posted a picture on Twitter of the protest.

Westboro Baptist Church, founded by Fred Phelps and made up mostly of Phelps family members, has garnered national attention for carrying signs such as "Thank God for 9/11" and protesting at funerals, including that of Matthew Shepard, the student who was killed in 1998 because he was gay.

They believe that the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, as well as the ensuing wars and even the mass shooting last week at Fort Hood, are punishment from God for tolerance of homosexuality. They plan to picket the Fort Hood memorial service this Tuesday.

The group, which is not affiliated with the Baptist church, protests nearly every day in Washington, D.C., rotating around the city. According to their web site, today they plan to hit a few more local schools and the White House, and will be at the Sidwell Friends Lower School tomorrow afternoon.

"Quakers?! Are you frigging kidding me? You pretend to be all non-violent, and you allow the most bloody, deceitful, evil, murderous bastard and his shemale sidekick to place their satanic spawn within your four walls?" reads the posting for today's protest at Sidwell Friends, which is a Quaker school.

The school has not yet responded to a request for comment.

Randall Terry, the extreme anti-abortion protester, has also arranged demonstrations outside the school.

Almost ashamed we aren't going to single payer

While I of course support the President, and want to see change happen to the healthcare industry, I am wondering why the right things didn't happen. Democrats in this country played the health care legislation in a weak way. They set the bar low, and now the American people will suffer. Instead of starting the push for health care reform as 'Single Payer is the only option' and then compromising from the progressive, socialist realm that America is drifting towards, Democrats started in this limbo position, not in the middle, but somewhere in between single payer and Germany's public/private system. No, scratch that, the Democrats set the bar in between the free market nightmare side and a very weak very of Germany's system that relies on and utilizes the private industry too much.

The Republicans, having experience with trying to scare Americans, set the bar as far right as they could, in their favor as much as they could. And they succeeded. Any health care that isn't free market enterprise or capitalism based is some crazy liberal shit that isn't good for America. They've been playing that game for decades; set the bar as far right as you can and everything looks liberal. Well, unfortunately for them, America is drifting to the left naturally(as in on it's own), and Republicans are getting left behind to revel in their 'Great American Awakening' and Reagan values.

Question: Who do these people worship more? Reagan or their God? The Almighty God or the Almighty Dollar? I ask this, because there is another question that makes this dichotomy an issue:

Question 2: How does capitalism and free market fit with Christian values?

There is no answer to the second question. Because they don't fit. That's reality. But not a reality Reaganites live in. They have created their own reality and they refuse to step out of their own reality to help other address real problems in our country. Instead of ever thinking to come together with others who feel differently, they consider those who disagree with them 'enemies'. Literally. That's a problem in a democracy such as ours. It is a threat to it. Think Civil War.

I also love watching US Chamber of Commerce commercials trying to scare Americans against health care reform on every other commercial broadcast on cable television. Yeeeeshh.... the bill including a public option is going to be so conservative a solution why are they against it with billions of dollars in ads? Gosh, why didn't the President just push progressive values? Republicans and big business are going to push against it anyways. Republicans are always sure to take America and put it on it's heels with conservative Republican GOP agenda crap every time they control the White House, why aren't WE when we needed it the most? I sincerely hope the President figures all this out and starts to fight for his base. I really want to see another 4 years, instead of a loss of 4 years with a crazy white person in office. Truf!

Believe me, if these conservatives don't lighten their values up and start to consider the poor and minorities in this country, we will have a second Civil War that will be much bloodier and worse than the first. It very well could resemble a French Revolution. The poor versus the privileged.

And to top it off, the privileged DO NOT FEEL OR AGREE that they are privileged in any way, so they do not see a need to change this. Unless they do, like I said I fear for the future of the country. And odds are they won't. Practically guaranteed.

If you take out accidental deaths due to car accidents, and you take out gun deaths -- because we like our guns in the United States and there are a lot more gun-deaths in the United States [than Europe] -- you take out those two things, you adjust those, and we're actually better in terms of survival rates.

Sen. Ensign is right, "there are a lot more gun deaths in the United States" than in Europe. America suffers about 30,000 gun deaths every year, including more than 10,000 gun homicides and another 17,000 gun suicides.

By comparison, Germany sees less than 200 gun homicides each year, while England and Wales have less than 200total gun deaths in an average year, including about 60 gun homicides. That puts America's gun homicide rate about 13 times higher than Germany's, and almost 31 times higher than England and Wales'.

What is Europe doing that we in America aren't? Sen. Ensign put his finger on it: Europeans have reduced the costs of gun violence by working to prevent it in the first place. If we in America take meaningful action to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people, then in Sen. Ensign's words, we can "adjust" downward the obscene number of gun deaths in our country. We can save lives and reduce the costs that plague our health care system at the same time.

30,000 vs 200? And these Republicans supporting less gun control are supposed to be pro-life? They complain about the 40,000 abortions a year yet don't think about the gun deaths caused by our pathetic gun control and enforcement in America?

I'm still trying to figure out why a "California Doctor" has to choose between their faith and their job if gay marriage is legal.

Do you not treat a patient's broken leg if they got gay married? Or perhaps you're a gynecologist and you determine it's against your faith to give a gay married woman a pap smear? Perhaps a surgeon decides that hey, this gay man with a husband doesn't deserve to have his appendix taken out - obviously it's God's will that they came down with appendicitis.

Seriously here - why would someone either a) being gay, or b) being gay and being married to their partner in any way make a medical professional have to decide between their faith and their job?

"Nurse, fetch me the paddles - this man is in cardiac arrest!"

"Doctor, I can't - he has 'the gay', so it's against my faith to save his life! Jesus would want me to let them die!"

"Oh, well, if that's the reasoning, then I guess OK."

I love how these people are trying to convey how the gay rights activists are making decisions that affect THEIR lives. Hello!?!? What have these people been doing to gay families with the laws THEY pass for centuries??? Gay people are here, they pay taxes and they should have the same basic rights to form a contract with another person (which is really what marriage is) and form a family just like any other couples. It's not the end of the world.

Michael Steele vs. Barack Obama

No contest. Who the fuck is Michael Steele? After doing a little bit of research, he is actually a rather moderate personality.

I think that the GOP was desperate to gather as many constituencies as it could in anticipation for the midway elections in 2010. They have figured out that they can't be the same party they were and expect to ever gain any traction again in this political system. I see comments from both sides of the conservative spectrum, and some in the Republican party were wanting a strong, far-right leaning RNC chairman, trying to use the same strategy as John McCain did with Sarah Palin to rally the party behind a personality.

Many in the party KNEW the party was in danger of DEATH if they didn't make the right decisions now. Even Mitch McConnell expressed his fears of this, of the party becoming a 'regional' party, which equates to a 'minority party'. If they ever wanted to make a decision for a chairman that would rally the party, this Steele was not it. He will not rally very many blacks to the Republican Party. The GOP should have waited to put a black man into their chairman spot until after Obama was out of office. After the inspiring oration from Barack in the last 24 months, don't really think very many blacks at all give a shit about this little black nobody.

I hope the party dies. Conservatives should be supporting the Libertarian Party, only they still represent the ideology of the most conservatives. The main tenet of conservative ideology is smaller government. The Republican Party is a big government ticket.

As a very moderate liberal, I would actually love to see a Palin-headed Republican ticket. I might even go so far as to say that i'd like to see a Palin presidency; not that it would ever do the country any good, but I think it would take something so far-right like that to happen to WAKE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE UP and revolt this bi-cameral system.

It took something far-left like Obama being elected in order to put an end to the plague Reaganomics has spread throughout this country. And people out there still fail to understand that's what Obama's presidency signifies. What better a way to say goodbye to the Reagan Era than with a black man.

Republicans 2/3/09

With no House Republicans voting for Obama's stimulus plan, it is clear that any efforts Obama has/is trying to make in crossing party lines and rallying support from both sides of the spectrum for PROGRESS in the country are simply being thrown out the window.

Actually, to be more specific, it would seem like the GOP is trying to capitalize(what else is new) on Obama's more fair and ideologically balanced approach to this ridiculous bi-cameral system. They want to abuse Obama's approach by overstepping their bounds greatly and striving for a 50% share of everything: The decisions of the Administration, Congress, and government agencies.

It is sad as I see a bill FOR THE PEOPLE slowly get whittled down by the GOP into the same type of economic stimulus packages passed by George W Bush during his 8 years. THOSE DIDN'T WORK... if they had we might have been able to avoid some of the hard-hitting repercussions of this depression.

James Carville had some good words for the GOP and idiots like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. These far-right leaners(from statistics it seems like the entire conservative spectrum is leaning ever more right as each day passes) presume that the GOP is 'bending over and taking it' because of the racial precedent set by the new President we have. They also advocate conservatives to come together and rally to prevent a total liberal takeover of the country. They want the Republican politicians to fight with everything they have to try and keep a 'fair' presence in Washington. Carville retorts this idea with a smart statement: "Heck, had Democrats been able to control 50 percent of the government from 2000 to 2004, we wouldn't have even gone into Iraq in the first place."

You misguided conservatives need to step down and sit the fuck back. IT'S OUR TURN MOTHERFUCKERS.
