The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.

Almost done with 2008

Wow, what a year this has been. This has probably been the most eventful year of my life. And when I look back at things in general, so little happened each day.

The most important moment of my life, Barack Obama being nominated as President of the United States, solidified hope that this country can be better than it has been, and has the chance to make the changes necessary to last longer than a short-lived democracy.

The most important person in my life and I have embarked on a journey that will shape the rest of our lives. Our family is soon to be plus one, and I couldn't be happier to a little human me will soon be ready to reflect the better life I want for myself, my love, and my family unit.

There were plenty of small things that happened, but December can't end soon enough to wash it all away and start anew. Most of the small things were simply steps leading up to the bigger things. For years I used to think that I learned more my senior year in high school than any other year, but now my Senior year in undergraduate studies has displaced the old mentally-productive year for a year that has proven to be more productive mentally and spiritually.

A more holistic value-system has emerged in my life at the right time, and this change has shown me(and is still showing me) how hard it is to break destructive habits. The future of my life and my families depends on whether my mind/body can safely and solidly make the shift necessary to put down the old ways and embrace a new system of love, life, caring, and acceptance.

With 2008 being so turbulent, I know that 2009 will be very forming, for not just me and my family, but for the world we live in. I pray with every fiber of my being that the infinite organizing power out there draws in peace and progress for all.

A Crucial Time

This blog starts at a crucial time for this planet. There are so many divisions all over the globe, and everyone around the world has found a man to bridge divides, President-elect Barack Obama. My life has been forever changed and hope has returned for the great country we live in, but will we all put down the destructive partisan politics and start turning a new leaf to continue to be a positive imperial force? Or will age-old and antiquated divisions, categorizations, and separations be the downfall of the great superpower?

I believe in hope.
